A Mount Built by an Astrophotographer, for Astrophotographers
The Astrojigs mount was born from a real problem: quality tracking mounts are expensive and out of reach for most hobbyists. Designed and built from scratch using a CNC router, 3D printer, and years of hands-on experience, this modular system brings professional-grade astrophotography within reach.
Two Versions in Development
- RA-only — Tracks the Earth's daily rotation, perfect for wide-field and planetary photography
- RA + DEC — Full tracking and GoTo capabilities for deep-sky astrophotography
Will Be Available As
- DIY assembly kits — with or without electronics and motors
- Ready-to-use gear
Technical Highlights
- ESP32 controller with Wi-Fi connectivity
- NEMA17 stepper motors with TMC driver series
- Belt transmission
- Theoretical angular resolution: <1 arcseconds per microstep
- Compatible with OnStep, INDI, KStars/EKOS, Stellarium, PHD2
- Supports telescopes up to ~30 kg
Proven in the Field
Tested under real night sky conditions with a Canon 6D DSLR and ASI planetary astrocam. Results include stacked 60s exposures of the Orion constellation and M51. First guiding tests with PHD2 show very promising accuracy.
What's Next
- Design and order PCB boards with components
- Measure system accuracy with PHD2
- Design final enclosure and 3D printed cover
- FCC and CE certification
